Installation
This guide will walk you through the installation process of the Spirit LoRaWAN Radon Detector.
What you need
- Spirit LoRaWAN Radon Detector
- Power adapter and USB cable
- LoRaWAN Network at the installation site (e.g., ChirpStack, The Things Network, etc.)
Environmental Requirements
- Avoid large metal objects or thick walls that may obstruct the LoRaWAN signal
- Ensure stable temperature and humidity within the device’s operating range
Step-by-step Installation
- Unbox the Device
- Carefully remove the Spirit LoRaWAN Radon Detector from its packaging. Ensure all components are present.
- Power the Device
- Hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn on the device. The LED indicator will light up, indicating that the device is powered on.
- Connect a power source
- Spirit has an internal battery that can last for almost 2 months, but it is recommended to keep it plugged in to a power source for permanent operation. You can either connect it to power using the provided USB cable, or by the internal 12-24V power connector.
- Install the Device
- Position the device in a location that is representative of the area you want to monitor. Avoid placing it near windows, doors, or ventilation systems.
- Connect to LoRaWAN Network
- Use the device’s unique identifiers (DevEUI, AppEUI, AppKey) to register it with your LoRaWAN network server.
- Follow the instructions provided by your LoRaWAN network provider to complete the registration process.
- Verify Connectivity
- After registration, check the network server dashboard to confirm that the device is successfully connected and transmitting data. For more details, refer to the LoRaWAN Network Server Setup guide.
- Monitor Data
- Make sure that our JSON Decoder is set up in your LoRaWAN network server to decode the data sent by the Spirit device.
All done!
- Your Spirit LoRaWAN Radon Detector is now installed and operational. You can monitor radon levels through your LoRaWAN network server.
